Frequently Asked Questions
- What's the difference between shared and dedicated?
- Shared (s1-*) instances have shared CPU — they're cost-efficient for workloads with variable CPU usage. Dedicated (a1-*) instances have guaranteed, non-shared CPU — your CPU allocation is always fully reserved. Choose dedicated for production workloads that need consistent performance.
- What does shared CPU mean?
- Shared instances use CPU that is shared across multiple tenants, making them more affordable. For example, s1-small gives you up to 1 vCPU of shared CPU and 1 GiB of memory. They're ideal for apps with variable CPU usage like web servers and APIs.
- Can I mix shared and dedicated in one project?
- Yes. Each service in your project can use a different instance size. For example, you might run your web frontend on s1-small (shared) and your database on a1-medium (dedicated). Your AI agent picks the right size for each service.
- When does billing start?
- Compute billing starts when a service is deployed and stops when the service is torn down or deleted. Storage billing starts when a volume is first created and stops when the volume is permanently deleted.
- What happens when I use up the free tier?
- After 14 days of s1-nano usage in a month, you'll need a payment method on file to keep services running. Add one in the billing dashboard at any time. Usage beyond the free tier is billed at the standard rates.
- Does the free tier reset?
- Yes, your 14 days of free compute and 5 GiB of storage reset at the start of each calendar month.
- Can I change instance sizes after deploying?
- Yes, just redeploy with a different size. Your AI agent can handle this — tell it to scale up or down and it will redeploy with the new instance size.
- What happens when I tear down a project?
- Tearing down stops all running services and ends compute billing immediately. Volumes are preserved (and continue billing) so your data is safe for the next deploy. Deleting a project removes all volumes and stops all billing.
- What payment methods are accepted?
- We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. You can manage your payment method in the billing dashboard.
